The Energy Environment Research Team was created in 1996
to address a growing concern for environmental issues within
the energy sector. Since its inception, the team has been
involved extensively with several initiatives both at the
national and provincial levels.
In addition to the environmental issues, the Team undertakes
cross cutting energy and economic issues across the various
energy sectors.
The Team also undertakes studies of impact of the energy
sector on the Canadian economy. Such analysis is undertaken
through the use of either macroeconomic models or other related
mechanisms such as economic employment and expenditure surveys.
Issues on energy demand and energy efficiency for various
energy fuels are also examined by this Team.
The Team frequently partners with other organizations building
a diverse team of experts. Some of our recent partners include
Centre for Spatial Economics (CSE), Pembina Institute, Policy
Assessment Corporation, and Systematic Solutions Inc.
Peter Howard leads the energy-environment research team.
