Current Challenges for WSCB Natural Gas Producers
Shale gas production1 in the United States (US) has increased at an unprecedented pace from about 1 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) in 2002 to close to 26 bcf/d by 2012. While natural gas from conventional sources (such as gas wells and oil wells) in the US has declined, increases in coalbed methane (CBM) and shale gas production (combined) have led to overall increases in total US raw gas production from about 67 bcf/d in 2002 to close to 82 bcf/d by 2012 (+15 bcf/d net). In turn, marketable gas supply has increased from 52 bcf/d in 2002 to close to 66 bcf/d by 2012 (+14 bcf/d net)..... Download full report.
