Natural Gas Report - November 2014
The North American natural gas supply has seen substantial change over the past several years due to the increased development of shale gas. Using conventional extraction techniques, gas in shale formations was previously too difficult to access due to shale’s low permeability. With improvements in techniques, particularly horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing (or fracking), these gas reservoirs have become more accessible and economically viable, and the access of gas from the Marcellus Shale in the northeastern United States in particular has drastically altered the gas production and reserves.....
