Given the abundant North American supply outlook, there has been much recent discussion regarding the potential for new markets for natural gas including transportation, power generation, LNG exports, and gas-to-liquids. In the transportation sector, several noteworthy natural gas-related developments have taken place in Canada over the past year. These developments include the release of the Natural Gas Use in the Canadian Transportation Sector – Deployment Roadmap, the establishment of a $1.4 million ecoENERGY for Alternative Fuels program to start to implement Roadmap recommendations, the launch of Canada’s first heavy natural gas truck fleet projects, the issuing of Canada’s first public sector tender that requires the use of natural gas vehicles, the decision to incorporate transportation content in Canada’s existing LNG standard (CSA Z276), and investments by the private sector for heavy fleet vehicle projects, as well as to bring LNG into the market for transportation use.....
